THe immigrant experience in America was very tough and tiring. Immigrants often had a hard time finding stable forms of shelter, jobs, or forms of transportation without the right connections.

The Oklahoma Land Rush was a rather hectic way of distributing the land, but people from all over came to claim the free land. Many people had to race to the land in order to claim it.

SHannon thought that America was an exciting modern place where she could feed her venturous soul hungering for freedom. However, she found America to be more untidy than she expected, and it required strenuous work to get where she wanted.
