In the political cartoon shown to the left, the illustrations depict a poor looking women reaching for a bucket of coal that is seemingly unreachable due to two people pulling this bucket upwards away from her on a pulley, The two men seem to be a worker and TR respectively. This shows the public opinion of TR as he tried to resolve the Coal Strike. The common people saw TR as trying to withhold the desperately needed coal from the grasp of the common people, who were left to freeze to death in the cold winter. The caption below says "they seem to pull well together" and in the picture it depicts the two working together to keep the coal away from the woman.

This cartoon clearly shows TR's opposition to the opulent railroad monopolies. The cartoon depicts him behind and elephant with the letter GOP written on its back that is fighting a locomotive with legs. The elephant obviously depicts the GOP's symbol, the elephant. TR is close behind, symbolizing his determination to get rid of the many railroad trusts and monopolies that continue to plague the common people. The subtitle of the cartoon says "To a Finish", which depicts that this battle between TR and the massive railroad corporations will be a battle to the end and there would have to be an emerging victor. As history shows, TR will win and the railroad monopolies would be his first "trust bust" of his presidency.

This image shows TR with many of his conservationist influences at a national park in front of a world famous sequoia tree. Roosevelt, after going on these tours, realized how beautiful America's national forests were. In an attempt to save and preserve these wondrous lands, Roosevelt placed these areas in the category of federal reservations that are still active to this day. Roosevelt had also created conservationist positions in the federal government giving the Secretary of Forests to Pinchot.
